Keeping Customers Safe

This story was originally published in April 2020 on our website.

Gina Usher works at Western Hills Kroger and her role has changed significantly during the COVID-19 pandemic. “I have been given new tasks reflecting the need to support health and safety of Kroger customers,” she said.

In addition to her normal duties, she has increased cleaning carts and other areas around the store, such as handles on all cases and restrooms. She protects herself and the customers by wearing a mask, social distancing and frequently washing her hands.

Usher also received a pay increase and a bonus for working during this time. “I am very lucky to have a job right now,” she said. “It is very rewarding to come to work knowing my job is directly allowing people to safely get items they need during this extremely difficult time.”
