In 2022 we were excited to celebrate the 35th anniversary of DD Awareness Month with our partners at the Cincinnati and Hamilton County Public Library!
Throughout March 2022, we had displays at the Monfort Heights, College Hill, Anderson Township, Oakley, Mt. Healthy and Deer Park branches. We shared librarian-created lists about disability and inclusion for all ages, information about HCDDS and our services, and small giveaways.
Advocacy Coordinator Amber Cowart and Advocacy Support Adviser Diana Mairose read “We Move Together,” a book about disability rights and inclusion, as part of the Storytime at Home: Important Conversations series. You can watch that video here. Superintendent Leia Snyder also read “You Are Enough” for the series.
We were also thrilled to have Paula Brem-Heeger, the Eva Jane Romaine Coombe Director of the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County, participate in the 5 Questions interview for the spring 2022 issue of My Life magazine.
Finally, March 2022 kicked off our new group, Reading and Discussion (RAD) Crew. It’s an inclusive gathering with our friends at the Deer Park branch library that happens on the second Thursday of each month. All comprehension levels are welcome, and you can bring anything to read or discuss—including your own work!
